Video Surveillance: Retail Point of Sale Monitoring PDF Print E-mail

The product developed by J. Gordon Electronic Design interfaces to the POS (Point of Sale) network to capture data as the retail transaction is taking place. This data, a copy of the sales receipt, is then superimposed over live video from cameras in the store. The combination is recorded on video tape.

Data captured from the POS (Point of Sale) terminal is superimposed over live video from in-store cameras and recorded on tape.

Computer generated graphic display of data is sycnronized to the arbitrary video rate provided by a non-synchronized camera.

Automatic camera switching and scanning of multiple POS terminals allows one system to monitor several cashiers, and will switch automatically to record the highest priority violation.

The combination of video and data are used effectively to catch "sweethearting" and other theft schemes that lead to inventory "shortages".

The system applies intelligent evaluation of the data as transactions are occurring to look for suspicious transactions. Certain suspicious transactions can optionally trigger an alarm to alert security officers.

J. Gordon Electronic Design developed unique, proprietary timing circuitry and a custom graphics controller to synchronize the graphic data generation with camera video running at an arbitrary non-sycnronized rate.
