J. Gordon Electronic Design developed new hardware and software to add LonWorks capability to a complex commercial car wash control system without re-engineering the entire system. To minimize installation and field service efforts, all nodes on the network can be self-configuring and self-installing.

The typical system includes 3 or more nodes on a distributed control network. LonWorks enabled added features, new services, and improved performance.

The system is "smart" with self-diagnostics and auto-dial modem to call central service facility for problems ranging from low soap level to equipment malfunction.

A typical gas station car wash involves a "network" of systems: The cashier console, one or more vending kiosks, and one or more wash machines. Old systems used discrete wiring and dedicated, slow communication lines. New systems will use more widely distributed control and a high speed LonWorks network.

New systems will add features and functions. New vending services and options will be added. New diagnostic capability will be added. All of this is made possible using LonWorks technology.

Oil companies and owners of large gas station chains are demanding "smart car wash" systems. The equipment must include self-diagnostics, and place its own call via phone & modem to a central service facility for everything from low soap level to equipment failure.

J. Gordon Electronic Design developed new hardware and software to add LonWorks capability to a complex system without re-engineering the complete system. To minimize installation and field service efforts, all nodes in the network are self-configuring, self-installing LonWorks nodes.
